VOLUNTEERING AT SKAGGS ELEMENTARY 

Thank you for sharing your time and energy to support our students, teachers, and school! The Skaggs PTA is run 100% by volunteer parents like you, and your involvement makes our school community thrive.

Step 1: Complete Your Mandatory Background Check

To ensure student safety, Plano ISD requires all campus volunteers to complete an annual online background check. You do not need to be a PTA member to volunteer, but you must be approved through VOLY before entering campus for field trips, class parties, or school events.

Important Clearance Note: Background check approvals from the 2025–2026 school year expired on July 31, 2026. All returning and new volunteers must submit or renew their application for the 2026–2027 school year. It is fast, free, and required every year.

Whether you want to lead a program, join a committee, or just help out for an hour at a single event, we have a role that fits your schedule!

Open Committee & Leadership Roles

We are currently seeking parents to fill or join the following key positions:

• Programs & Events: Staff Appreciation Coordinator, Arts in Education Chair, After-School Programs Coordinator, Parent Education Chair, Environmental Chair, Advocacy Chair, Hospitality Chair.

• Communications: Digital Communications Coordinator.

• Committees: Staff Appreciation, Financial Reconciliation, Senior Scholarship, Nominating, Lifetime Membership, Budget, and Bylaws Committees.

Single-Event & Day-of Volunteering

Not ready to commit to a committee? No problem! We post day-of volunteer opportunities throughout the year for book fairs, class celebrations, field day, and school spirit events.
