VOLUNTEERING ON CAMPUS GUIDELINES
Arrival & Check-In
-
Report to the Front Desk First: Always sign in at the main entrance using the district's visitor management system (Raptor). Present a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or state ID) during every visit.
-
Display Your Volunteer Tag: Wear your official volunteer badge in a highly visible location on your chest at all times while on school grounds. Do not cover it with jackets, hair, or bags.
-
Check-Out: When your shift is finished, return to the front office to check out and turn in your badge before leaving.
Respecting Staff & Hallway Etiquette
-
Mind Teachers’ Time: When teachers are in the hallways between classes, their time is strictly limited. Avoid spontaneous meetings or non-essential conversations during these transitions.
-
Scheduling Conferences: If you need to speak with a teacher regarding your child or volunteer duties, please email them directly to set up a scheduled conference.
Restroom Policy
-
Adult-Only Restrooms: Volunteers must strictly use designated adult restrooms.
-
Locations: Located in the front office and near the 5th-grade hallway (separate from student facilities).
-
Student Restroom Prohibition: Never enter or use student restrooms under any circumstances.
-
When in Doubt: Ask front desk staff for direct directions to the nearest adult facility.
Student Privacy & Photography
-
No Photos or Videos: Taking photos or videos of students is strictly prohibited. Parents/guardians are not present to provide consent, and district policy strictly safeguards student digital privacy.
Additional Plano ISD Guidelines
-
Annual VOLY Clearance: All volunteers must complete an online VOLY application, background check, and orientation video every school year (applications renew annually after July 1st). Ensure your status shows as approved prior to your shift.
-
Student Confidentiality: Any information regarding a student's grades, behavior, academic performance, or personal circumstances observed during your time on campus is strictly confidential. Do not share this information with anyone outside school staff.
-
Dress Code: Wear neat, school-appropriate attire consistent with Plano ISD expectations. Wear closed-toe shoes suitable for your assigned duties.
-
Emergency & Safety Procedures: Familiarize yourself with campus emergency procedures. In the event of a drill or actual emergency, remain with the staff member you are assisting and follow all instructions immediately.
-
Cell Phone Usage: Keep mobile devices on silent while on duty to minimize distractions in classroom settings.
