Our Skaggs Volunteers are amazing and deserve all the recognition for making Skaggs an amazing place for our students and staff. We started a Volunteer of the Month in 2025. See our monthly winners highlighted below.

2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR - VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH
August - 2026
Shermin & Mehul Patel
Thank you, Shermin and Mehul, for your time, dedication, and the positive difference you make at Skaggs. Even if Shermin and Mehul didn't sign up to volunteer at an event, they will stay to help once it's over. Not only this but they help out at as many events as they can. Their kindness is infectious! We are so grateful for all you both do to contribute and make our school even better.
September - 2026
Denis & Raul Villarreal
Every thriving community relies on the dedicated people working quietly behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. For us, those people are Raul and Denis!
From keeping our social media active and engaging to being familiar, welcoming faces at our mom meetups, their impact is felt everywhere. Now, as our amazing Yearbook Chair, Sunhea Kim, takes a well-deserved step back, Raul and Denis are stepping up once again to help bring this year’s memories to life.
-
Social Media Operations: Keeping our community connected and informed online.
-
Yearbook Support: Stepping into critical roles to keep the yearbook on track.
We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, versatility, and team-first attitude. Thank you, Raul and Denis!
2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR
September - 2025
Jessica Cagle
A mom of 4 daughters, Jessica volunteers at the library when she has free time. She not only helps our librarian, Mrs. Turner but she also singlehandedly coordinated all the parent volunteers to help our librarian! She loves to read and spend time with her family. We thank her immensely.

October 2025
Ryan Patterson
A new Skaggs family and we couldn't be more grateful! Ryan has helped our Student Safety Patrol with painting stars on the sidewalk to keep our drop off line going smoothly. On top of that Ryan took time out of his busy schedule to repaint some faded four squares in the playground area for our Stars. Skaggs is immensely grateful for his hard work!
November 2025
Patrick Schultz
We are very lucky to have this dad in our Skaggs family. Patrick created our first ever Skaggs Dad Group, under our PTA for the 2025-2026 year! He takes time out of his busy schedule as a father of 2 to coordinate with Skaggs Staff to facilitate the painting of stars, Reading Time with Skaggs Dads in the library, and heavy lifting around the school. We are one lucky school!
December 2025
Carla Rober
As part of our Board in the PTA as VP of Ways and Means, Carla is everywhere helping when she can. She not only helps plan and execute our events she is there with a smile! She always volunteers to help everyone where she can. Carla also uses her skills to create most of the images and flyers the PTA puts out. During summer break she also took time to re-vamp our website, create all the images on our website and create new logos! We can't thank her enough for all she does for our school.
January 2026
Trina Roy
Trina is an incredible leader and champion for our school communities. As VP of Membership at Skaggs Elementary and VP of Programs at Rice Middle School, she balances both roles with dedication, energy, and heart. Her efforts to recruit and grow PTA membership have helped Skaggs earn award after award, and Rice recently nominated her for a Texas PTA Life Membership Award—a well-deserved honor. We are so thankful for all Trina does for our students, families, and staff.
February 2027
Yun Chen
Yun has been a shining example of what it means to serve our Skaggs community. Since the moment her first son joined Skaggs, Yun has consistently stepped up—quietly, generously, and without hesitation—whenever help is needed. She’s the kind of volunteer you can always count on: dependable, proactive, and always showing up with a warm smile and a positive, can-do attitude. Whether she’s supporting an event, lending a hand behind the scenes, or helping wherever there’s a need, Yun brings kindness and encouragement to everyone around her. Our school is stronger because of her, and our staff and families truly feel her impact. Thank you, Yun, for your dedication, your heart, and the difference you make at Skaggs every day. We are so grateful for you!
